The overarching objective of the project was to create spaces that celebrate the essence of humane and natural elements in harmony. The light shaft, acting as the heart of the building, rejuvenates the surrounding and blends in all that is required to live and aspire. The light seeps in through the shaft and illuminates the courtyard and the house. Reaching towards the eastern-hemisphere, asking for light, a portion is chiseled out from the middle of the “served bay”. While suppressing the glare and sharpness of vision by framing the visible sky with louvered curtains, intimacy of the space became self-aware through the modest light and its uneven dispersion.
